Today’s TJC Tidbit

The Joint Commission (TJC) will be visiting Sibley. To help everyone prepare, we will be featuring a daily tip here.

Q. What is SDS and where would you go to access it?
Hint: SDS was formerly known as MSDS
A. Safety Data Sheets, formerly known as Material Safety Data Sheets, are on Sibley’s intranet.

Presidential Prep

With the presidential inauguration on Friday, Jan. 20, followed by the Women’s March on Saturday, Jan. 21, we can expect an unusually large number of visitors to our city and surrounding areas. With such large crowds, there always exists the potential for concern. These include routine travel delays, civil disorders and injuries and health emergencies that may present at our Emergency Department.

While it will be “business as usual” for Sibley during this period, we also recognize the possibility of issues and have planned accordingly.

Click here for the plans in place at Sibley.

Centre|Sibley is still in what we call “beta,” which means that some features (but not all) are up and running, in order to gain deeper feedback about the things that can help support patients and their loved ones during their stay. Our goal is to help take care of all the little things that they may need so that you, as their care team, can focus on the really important stuff like making them better.

While it’s in beta, Centre|Sibley can help with minor business needs (printing, a place to work, Wi-Fi) provide simple toiletry kits, help guests and patients to get online and find a phone charger. Come by Centre|Sibley, located in the lobby of Building B and check it out!

Staff, visitors and patients can also visit www.centresibley.com to learn more and to fill out a survey.

Speak Up About Safety

We want to hear your voice! Below are just some of the safety initiatives from our Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP) teams in the last six months. These initiatives were implemented because individuals like you spoke up. The Safety Culture Assessment is running until Tuesday, Feb. 14. Look for the email from support@pascalmetrics sent on Jan. 17. Reminders will be sent throughout the survey period which will provide a link to your survey. Please see the January calendar for open computer times. The first session is today from 5 to 7 p.m. in PDR 1&2. Also, don’t forget about the weekly prize that starts next Wednesday.

CUSP Initiatives:

  • Revising lab protocols
  • Greeting the patients sooner
  • Room readiness checklist
  • Improving handoff
  • Patient flow

See more safety initiatives and read more about the Safety Culture Assessment.
