Welcome New Foundation Member

The Sibley Foundation is pleased to welcome Leah Kalinosky, director of development communications. “We are very excited to have Leah’s expertise to help the Foundation improve its communications with our donors, foundations and stakeholders,” said Vice President Carol Shannon. Acting as a resident storyteller, Leah will help us share the amazing work that happens at Sibley with our donor audiences.

Leah most recently worked for the National Geographic Society, where she managed donor communications and stewardship, and wrote proposals for major gifts. “I’ve only been here a few weeks, but I can tell that everyone at Sibley is passionate about their work. I’m happy to be part of the team!”

Leah can be reached at lkalino1@jhmi.edu or x6590.

Colon Cancer Awareness Month

March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Colon cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women combined in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that this year 136,830 people will be diagnosed and 50,310 will die from this disease.

Wear blue and unite for a future free of colon cancer. Dress in Blue Day is Friday, March 3, but why stop there? This March, “get blued” and spread the word about colon cancer all month long!

Shining Moment

To: Marilis Guerra, EVS associate I, environmental services
From: Carole Groux, patient experience liaison manager, patient and family experience:

You’re a star because you are always cheerful and welcoming. I was able to see your interaction with a patient on 7A as you entered her room. Your calling the patient by her name and your sweet personality were wonderful!

Please contact Mary Lethbridge, assistant to the VP, human resources, at x4753 or mlethbr1@jhmi.edu to submit a shining moment.
