Ask Chip: Battery Recycling at Sibley

Q: Does Sibley have a battery recycling program?

A: Focusing on sustainability in the health care setting is critical to ensuring a healthier environment for future generations. Helping employees to recycle is one way that we help to improve Sibley’s sustainability. At Sibley, we do participate in a program to recycle rechargeable batteries. We do not recycle regular alkaline batteries. To recycle rechargeable batteries, we work with Call2Recycle, a battery stewardship organization. Rechargeable batteries are individually bagged, placed into a box and then shipped to a recycling facility. If you have rechargeable batteries that need to be recycled, please contact Robert Jewell, director of environmental services, at rjewell1@jhmi.edu.
