Ask Chip: Can We Have More Classes at Sibley?

Q: Would it be possible to offer more classes (for a fee) at Sibley, particularly on evenings or weekends when some of the spaces are less likely to be in use? For example, prenatal yoga classes? More classes for expecting moms?

A: We’d love to be able to offer more classes at Sibley, and we’ll take into consideration your suggestions. We’re always happy to make space available for classes that will benefit our employees and the community. The biggest challenge is finding individuals who are interested in leading the classes. Often, our employees have the skills necessary to lead classes and are willing to do so. Nneka Okoye, M.S.N., FNP-C, occupational health and safety manager, leads our Zumba classes. And we recently added a weekly Hatha yoga class because Antoinette Solnik, R.N., offered to lead the class. Thank you to Nneka and Antoinette and all of our employees who take the time to lead the wide range of classes, seminars and workshops available here at Sibley. If you or someone you know is interested in leading a class at Sibley, please reach out to Jolie Price, human resources generalist, at jprice34@jhmi.edu, and Nneka Okoye, M.S.N., FNP-C, at nokoye3@jhmi.edu. Jolie and Nneka develop and coordinate our wellness class program at Sibley.
